Ganpati Visarjan Miravnuk, Pune - 2012

Ganpati festival is celebrated all over Maharashtra and Ganesh visarjan processions are carried in all cities but Ganpati Visarjan Procession in Pune is a different experience altogether. Witnessing the Pune dhol is an outstanding experience.

Guruji Talim Mandal, Manacha Tisra Ganpati, Punyacha Raja

Not only boys but girls participate in huge numbers, that's once of the success of Pune. Girls can participate without having to fear for safety. A lot of American's and European's participate too.

Passion is the key!

This was the most passionate guy amongst all. He was enjoying the Dhol is most unique way.

Lezim patha or band by school children is one of the attractions

Star of the day - the entire crowd was cheering for him

Sword fight demo during the procession, it was very thrilling and gave the feel of real fight

Dabhosa waterfall resort - Nature Trails, Jawhar, Thane

Dabosa waterfall resort near Jawhar, Thane is a part of Nature Trail’s group of resorts. This place is one of their newest locations. A very nice place, superb location and well managed resort. It was a good experience being there. Adventure activities were conducted by trained people. Good food served throughout the stay. The rooms are clean, have bare minimum furniture, no tv and no mobile signal but excellent valley/ waterfall view which makes the stay worth it.

Banjara people on the way, the moment they realized I am clicking
snaps they started asking for money in return :p

Waterfall view from the room

Nice hammocks outside every room

Waterfall view from the dining area, enjoyed cool breeze along with it

Valley crossing, the Nature Trails people call it "Flying Fox"

Once the rains started the view was even better

Since its located deep into tribal area you can see many insects around.
This guy surely stood out, unlike other insects he made no attempt to
get away from humans,. Probably he knows he is the deadliest

Kayaking activity in still water

Valley view

Rappelling activity in the valley, it was indeed fun.
Nice 200ft distance for the activity, which is much
bigger than what most others offer

The water falls from around 200ft creates
a pond in beautiful surroundings

Most of the population around Dabhosa stays in mud houses like this.

Sula Vineyard, Nashik

Sula Vineyards is at the forefront of the Indian Wine revolution. Sula’s award-winning Indian Wines are available in the best hotels & restaurants worldwide.
Sula Vineyards winery is located on the outskirts of Nasik, around four hours northeast of Mumbai, in the state of Maharastra. For wine lovers, Sula Vineyards makes an enjoyable side trip from Mumbai. It's easily reached by frequent Indian Railways train services, buses, or even by taxi.
The winery is set on a 35 acre vineyard. For the amount of wine that Sula produces, the property wasn't as large as I expected it to be. However, that's because Sula has an additional few hundred acres of vineyards spread elsewhere in the region. Sula has couple of restaurants in the premise, they serve excellent, we found the prices to be on a higher side.
Paid tour of the vineyard is available, which costs around Rs. 150 per person. The tour includes continuous commentary by the guide explaining about wine and how Sula came into existence. The wine ends with wine testing, where tourists are given taste of 406 different wines along with instructions on how to enjoy the wine.

Wine barrels

The wine is fermented in these barrels for months which gives wine the taste it has. We were told that Sula imports these barrels from California and they are made of special wood which gives taste to the wine.
